More about the Project:
When I was a kid I grew up listening to punk rock, I became completely infatuated with it, it was my life and, yes, it translated into my adult life as well. When I was 13 I went to my first show and I remember so vividly the excitement that I felt walking into the club. "There was romance in the air for sure" that night for me. I remember thinking to myself that I wanted to be on stage, I realize now that it was because I wanted to contribute to a scene that I was falling head over heels for. For the last 13 years I've played in and out of bands and still hold onto the ideal that I don't just play music for myself, I play it to share with anyone who cares to listen. I chose Solidarity to be the name of this project because it embodies my beliefs in a couple different ways. On the first level, it's a way for me to give back some of my knowledge, to not just the punk rock scene, but all under funded, and subsequently, over worked musicians out there. So Solidarity seemed to fit for musicians standing together.
The second part of this project, is that I recorded a full length album. I not only really wanted to record a full length but I wanted to bring in all my friends in to play on different tracks. As a recording engineer I was fortunate enough to have recording facilities (Iacon Sound and UCSD) at my disposal. So I pulled in about 8 different musicians and recorded my first full length album. I found that Solidarity also worked on that level, the coming together of different musicians with different style to create a whole project. With developing this website and all the techniques I use for manufacturing, I wanted to also have a "show piece" so people can see what a final product will look like. I hope that you find this website to be useful to you and if you are into ska and punk then please check out the album. I also have a donations link set up, I will never ask anyone for money for this knowledge, but if you feel like its worth a couple of dollars then I would appreciate it.
Thanks,
Joel Polizzi
